Christmas Mini Sessions in Baltimore: What to Expect & How to Prepare

Your people. Your joy. Your holiday memories.

Between the shopping lists, family plans and end-of-year rush, it is easy to reach December without a photograph of everyone together. A Christmas mini session makes room for a small pause: a chance to get close, share a laugh and preserve this chapter of your family.

Marcus Gregory Photography’s November studio minis are designed to keep that experience simple. One outfit, a short guided session and a collection of edited photographs—without planning a full portrait afternoon.

A little preparation, more room to enjoy it

You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose. I will guide you through the session, helping you settle into comfortable positions and leaving room for the expressions that happen naturally. The aim is a collection that feels connected and personal.

A mini session works best when everyone arrives dressed and ready for one focused look. If you need several outfits, extended time or photographs with a larger group, let me know before booking so we can discuss whether a full portrait session would fit better.

Choose your holiday look

Start with two or three colors and repeat them across the family. Coordinate the overall feeling while giving each person an outfit they enjoy wearing. These palettes are wardrobe suggestions; the studio’s final set details will guide the best choice.

Soft & cozy

Cream · Champagne · Taupe

Soft knits, relaxed trousers and a cardigan create a warm, understated look. Mix textures so the neutral colors still feel interesting.

Classic holiday

Evergreen · Burgundy · Cream

Let one rich color lead, then balance it with cream and a second accent. Everyone can wear a different share of the palette.

Polished & festive

Navy · Ivory · Gold accents

A navy jacket or dress pairs beautifully with ivory. Use a small gold accessory as a finishing touch rather than dressing everyone in shine.

Choose clothes that let you sit, stand and cuddle comfortably. Keep large logos and competing prints to a minimum, and check shoes as part of the whole outfit. You may already have most of what you need.

Make it something the kids look forward to

Let children choose between two suitable outfits and describe the session as time together rather than a test of who can smile the longest. Bring a familiar comfort item if it helps them settle, and allow enough travel time to avoid arriving rushed.

Plan a small family treat afterward: a favorite snack, lunch together or a little holiday outing. That gives the day its own memory beyond the photographs.

Keep it easy: One comfortable outfit, a little preparation and permission to be yourselves. A perfect performance is not required.

Your before, during & after checklist

01 · Before

Confirm your appointment and arrival instructions. Try on outfits, check for wrinkles and pack wipes or a backup outfit for small children.

02 · During

Keep phones and keys out of pockets. Follow the guidance, stay close and leave room for natural moments.

03 · After

Keep your delivery details handy. Once the edited photographs arrive, choose your favorites for sharing and check your agreement before arranging prints or cards.

What should we know before booking?

Is the 10 AM–2 PM window our session time?

No. That is the appointment window for each date. Your individual photography session is 15 minutes; confirm your assigned time and arrival instructions when booking.

Can we change outfits?

Plan one finished look for a mini session so we can use the time for photographs. If outfit variety is a priority, ask about a full portrait experience.

Can we bring extended family or pets?

Ask before booking. Group size, studio rules and the time needed for your requested photographs should be confirmed first.

Will the photographs be ready for holiday cards?

Share your card-order deadline before booking so we can confirm whether the delivery schedule works for you. Printing and shipping require additional time, and are not included in the session details listed here.

What does the studio setup look like?

Ask for the current set details before choosing your outfits. Any labeled inspiration imagery is a style reference, not a photograph of the actual studio set.
