Mini Session or Full Family Session? How to Choose the Right Fit

A fresh family photograph or a fuller family story? Start with what you want to remember—and how your people feel most comfortable.

A mini session can make updating your family photographs feel manageable. A full session gives us more time to build around your ideas. The best choice depends on the photographs you want, the pace your family needs and how much flexibility matters to you.

Whether you are planning in Baltimore or elsewhere in the DMV, begin with a simple question: what would make this session feel worthwhile? A photograph for the holiday card? Grandparents with the grandchildren? A collection of portraits and little moments for your walls? That answer helps us choose the right amount of time.

Find your starting point

A seasonal refresh

You want a focused set of current photographs, can arrive ready in one outfit and like the scheduled setting. Start with a mini.

More room to settle in

You want time for warming up, different combinations or a more personal setting. Start with a full-session inquiry.

A bigger family plan

You are bringing extended family or have specific access, timing or creative needs. Tell me the details before choosing a collection.

What are you investing in?

The current Fall Mini Session is $175 for 15 minutes and 10 edited images, delivered within two weeks. The October 24, 2026 session date is at Patterson Park in Baltimore. Your signed agreement and full payment reserve the session. Check the booking page for current times; an advertised date does not guarantee an open appointment.

For a full session, the published Essential portrait collection starts at $500 and includes up to 60 minutes, one location, up to two looks and 15 professionally retouched images. It also includes planning guidance, a private gallery and personal print rights. Family size and the photographs you want may call for a different collection, so confirm the fit before booking.

Portrait sessions require a signed agreement and a 30% non-refundable retainer, with the balance due seven days before the session unless your agreement states otherwise. Review the current portrait collections for options.

Choose value by fit. If you want one seasonal look, a mini may be all you need. If your wish list needs more time or planning, a full session can be the more useful investment. Choose the experience that supports the photographs you actually want to keep.

Let your family's pace help you decide

A short session is appealing, but shorter is not automatically easier for every child. Think about how your child usually responds to new people, transitions and unfamiliar places. Share anything that would help me guide your family comfortably before you book.

For a larger family, write down the combinations that matter most. Everyone together, each household, grandparents and grandchildren: those are different photographs, and moving between them takes time. We can discuss a realistic plan without trying to squeeze a reunion's worth of photographs into a mini.

Keep the preparation simple

  • Pick your priority. Tell me the photograph or connection you most want to remember.
  • Share who is coming. Include children's ages and the group combinations you have in mind.
  • Choose comfortable outfits. Try them on, including shoes. Our fall family wardrobe guide offers easy color palettes and practical preparation.
  • Leave room in the day. Review your meeting instructions and allow travel time. For a mini, arrive ready for your booked appointment.
  • Make it something to enjoy. A favorite song on the drive or a little family time afterward can make the outing feel like more than a task.

You do not need to rehearse a perfect smile. I will guide positioning and movement while leaving room for the expressions and connections that feel like your family.

Choose the time your story needs.

For a focused fall update, explore October 24 at Patterson Park and check current booking options. If the calendar has no suitable time, or you need a more tailored plan, send a full-session inquiry.
